Do Zinnias Need To Be Deadheaded?

Zinnias are easy to grow annuals that bring a ton of color to the garden.  They thrive in full sun and are drought tolerant.

One zinnia plant will produce hundreds of blooms each season.  They need to be deadheaded regularly in order to do this.

When you deadhead, or remove a spent flower, this allows the plant to put it's energy into growing new flower heads.

If you don't remove the flower head the zinnia plant will put it's energy into creating seeds in the spent flower bloom.

Deadheading zinnias will help the plant produce more flowers.  It will also keep the zinnia plant healthy and pest free.
