How To Deadhead Peonies After Blooming

After peonies bloom, it's important to deadhead the flowers.  This allows the plant to put it's energy into the plant's roots. 

Deadheading also helps to prevent disease like powdery mildew from spreading throughout the plant. 

If you don't remove peony flowers after they bloom, the peony plant will put it's energy into the seed pod. 

Use a clean pair of gardening clippers to remove the peony flowers to prevent the spread of plant disease.
